Though not exclusively a music photographer, Paul Needham has been capturing live images of bands and musicians since the late ’80s as in-house photographer for several internationally renowned venues including; the Borderline and Shepherds Bush Empire in London and The DeMontfort Hall and Sub 91 in his hometown of Leicester. He has also spent many years documenting the action at Leicester’s best, small venues; The Musician and The Donkey.
As an in-demand freelance album designer, art director and WordPress developer, Paul works with a number of ‘underground’ rock and Americana artists, both in the US and UK, providing promotional photography that has appeared on numerous websites and album sleeves, most notably for; Michael Monroe, Diesel Park West, Johnny Dowd, Dan Baird & Homemade Sin, The Rockingbirds, Skam, Jason & The Scorchers, The Breakdowns, Velozity and The Urban Voodoo Machine. Publishing credits have included Classic Rock and Country Music People magazines as well as books about Townes Van Zandt and Jason & The Scorchers.
Having relocated to South West Germany in mid-2012, Paul is a freelance contributor for several regional newspapers, regularly covering local events and sport as well as live music. He also contributes a popular weekly street photography blog and runs his own photography website.
He is also closely involved with the day to day running of the IDMA as the Academy’s resident graphic designer and WordPress developer, responsible for all aspects of the IDMA’s branding and presentation. The requested photo source cannot be loaded at this time. SSL is required
